In India, late diagnosis is killing 89 out of 100 women within 5 years of diagnosis and treatment. The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified breast cancer as the leading cause of death due to Cancer among women worldwide. In India, societal barriers make it difficult to perform early intervention. Aaroogya is attempting to change this by raising awareness about breast cancer and general health concerns within the rural population.
Aaroogya “carnage Breast cancer foundation” embarked on its noble odyssey in 2016 with the single-minded drive to create a meaningful nationwide awareness campaign. Right from suburbs like Narela, in outskirts of Delhi to North-East India, Aaroogya carried the banner of its vision of Early Detection in villages like Mawlynnong (Asia’s Cleanest Village), Pongtung, Umiam, Mawlai, Nongpoh, Jorabat, Barnihat, Barpeta amongst many others.
We also aim to work towards casting away myths, help in overcoming body shamming and encourage people to make regular preventive clinical visits to doctors for timely diagnosis and treatment.
