We work towards mobilizing the patients towards such possible precision treatment with partner Hospitals and Day care centers, where an individual is treated according to their own set of underlying cause of the disease. Awareness on each step in primary and we are on it. Right from Educating them to guide their way to the right procedure for a holistic successful treatment and follow up with counseling and social engagement activities.

Outcomes - ‘1759 people aged between 15 to 75 and above, women and men in the ratio of 7:3 gained an understanding of the grave issues around their general health conditions, nutrition, sanitation, and awareness & breast self- examination training .’ ‘8 participating researchers and Public Health doctors called Aaroogya Mitras learnt from young people about how these problems affect their lives.’
Work in Uttar Pradesh
We launched the project in a momentously pivotal location in the villages by the bank of River Hindon, a tributary of River Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh, India.
From 12th to 14th February, we did our on-ground data collection and breast cancer awareness campaign in Milana, Shahpur Bahrganga, Khaprana etc. rural villages in western Uttar Pradesh . We found that the majority of the woman were either illiterate or have studied till Class 10th. Hence they were not much aware about breast cancer. We saw a considerable change in the level of awareness among woman in these villages. Initially they were a little bit shy but when we told them about the gravity of the disease and made them more aware about breast cancer related problems, we found those women losing their reticence.
Action Plan Followed to accomplish the Project – Reached 1.37 lakh women, 1759 patients identified in 8 villages called Milana, Khaprana, Rehatna, Shahpur, Kali, Shahjahanpur, Baram and Rasana in Baghpat and Meerut districts of Western Uttar Pradesh by the bank of River Hindon.

19th January, 2017 – Our vivid team of Medicos, Nutritionists, Anthropologists and talented camera-woman to organize our standard session of awareness session about Breast Cancer.
We did our very first door to door awareness in 90 houses. The challenges were humongous and worth experiencing.
Work in Pongtung-Umium-Mawlai, Meghalaya
Thence, Aaroogya conducted awareness and screening sessions for Breast Cancer in inaccessible lands like Village Pongtung near Dawki in Meghalaya. Pongtung village is located in Pynursla Tehsil of East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya, India. It is situated 15km away from sub-district headquarter Pynursla and 61km away from district headquarter Shillong.Pongtung has a total population of 579 peoples. 276 are males while 303 are females as per Population Census 2011.
In Pongtung village population of children with age 0-6 is 115 which makes up 19.86 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Pongtung village is 1098 which is higher than Meghalaya state average of 989. Child Sex Ratio for the Pongtung as per census is 1170, higher than Meghalaya average of 970. Pongtung village has higher literacy rate compared to Meghalaya. In 2011, literacy rate of Pongtung village was 78.45 % compared to 74.43 % of Meghalaya.

We did disease awareness education session, taught them Breast Self –Examination, did free clinical screening, recorded positive family history of relevant susceptible individuals, mobilized suspected patients and the one with family history to partner clinicians.
It has been suggested that the high incidence of hormone related diseases, such as breast cancer, is due, in part, to the presence of environmental estrogens. And as Our Chief (Prof. Dr. Julka, Former Dean, AIIMS) says, Estrogen or female hormone is the culprit and lifestyle ill regulation, Obesity harboring unhealthy fats releasing Estrogen
Work in Dawki, Meghalaya
The highlight of our session there was an important factor to make every woman aware about is the right Diagnostic tool for confirming any suspected finding in breast cancer by the physician. Females below 45 years of age and 40 in case of a positive Family History should not go for mammogram as it is not useful at that age due to dense tissue site. Rather, Ultrasound or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) are the recommended tools.
